Overview

A Slow Ride by the Sea

North of Agadir, the fishing villages of Tamraght and Taghazout have become Morocco's best-known surf spots, but their beaches are also lovely at the pace of a camel. The ride starts near Tamraght, where the river meets the ocean and forms a shallow lagoon that attracts birds.

Led by a camel guide, you ride along the sand and the edge of the lagoon, with the surfers in the waves and the hills of the Atlas foothills behind. Halfway there is time to dismount for photographs and a mint tea. The late afternoon ride is the most popular, finishing as the sun sinks into the Atlantic.
