The Moroccan Ritual of Steam and Rest
The hammam is one of the oldest traditions of Moroccan life, a weekly ritual of steam, soap and conversation. In a private spa the ritual is the same but unhurried: you relax in a warm steam room, are covered in soft black soap made from olives, then scrubbed from head to toe with a kessa glove that leaves the skin remarkably smooth.
A rinse and often a ghassoul clay mask follow, then you move to a quiet room for a massage with argan oil, and finish with mint tea in the relaxation lounge. With a driver collecting you and bringing you back, it is the perfect counterweight to a day in the souks or the first thing to do after a long flight.
