Overview
Palm Trees and Rock Pools in the Mountains
About an hour north-east of Agadir, the road to Imouzzer Ida Outanane climbs into the foothills of the High Atlas and follows the Tamraght river into a narrow gorge. Here, between walls of red and grey rock, the river forms a chain of clear green and turquoise pools, shaded by palm trees and oleanders, that everyone calls Paradise Valley.
You stop on the way at a honey stall on the “Route du Miel”, where beekeepers sell thyme and euphorbia honey, then walk for about half an hour along the stream to the main pools. There is time to swim, sunbathe on the flat rocks or walk further up the valley, and to have lunch at a small riverside café before the drive back to Agadir.
